LHHATL – A classy surprise

27 Jun

Just when I thought I couldn’t stomach another episode of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, I realize that most of the people on the show are showing a positive side.

Stevie J. and his daddy-was-there attitude, Karlie Redd trying to find love, and Rasheeda dealing with issues around her marriage with grace are some of my reasons for continuing to watch this show.

I’m loving Mimi and Karlie for getting an ad spot with the Limerita drinks as well. I think it’s great that they’re capitalizing without making themselves look trashy.

Who am I glad to see GONE from the show? That guy that made the movie with Mimi, his girlfriend, Arian, or whatever her name is, and I wouldn’t be mad if they took little Chris away either.

There are lots of negative things that can be said about this show, and I almost stopped watching, but instead, I just skipped the episode with Joseline’s baby shower. I’m glad I didn’t abandon the Atlanta crew over Joseline.

What am I waiting to see? The DNA results from that girl’s baby, how Stevie works things out with his daughters, and I’m wishing the best for Tommie. She seems to have some things to work on. I’m not saying I don’t understand her frustration. I’m saying that most of the cast is frustrated and has issues, they just seemed to have learned that fist-fighting isn’t the way to resolve anything … except for Jessica. I want to see her be more graceful, even around Tommie.

Peace!

Real Housewives of New Jersey – Is Teresa the problem?

18 Jun

It’s not easy to figure out which housewife I “like” from the New Jersey cast of BravoTV “reality” series.  So, I did a little research to see what Teresa Giudice’s problem is with everyone.

According to Teresa’s blog, her sister-in-law Melissa and cousin Kathy joined the show behind her back. The way she describes it sounds kind of messed up if it’s true. If so, I can understand why Teresa has such a hard time accepting Melissa. But Teresa is being phony by not saying something to them about it. Tell them why you’re mad, Teresa!

Teresa’s eldest daughter is another story. She’s a disrespectful little girl who needs home-training. She needs to be taught how to interact with other adults – to stay in a child’s place. If I were Jacqueline, I think I would have had to put that little girl out of my house the day they had field day. Also, the way she was questioning her uncle was out of line. She’s a child.

Teresa could benefit from some grammar lessons. This is a quote from her Web site:

“My Bravo blog from this week’s episode of RHONJ is up here: Cover Girl. (PS–We don’t name our own blogs; Bravo does…) I explain how this whole magazine thing works which is very interesting because when I started I had no idea. Everyone on the cast knows by now though, so I’m confused as to why they pretend them don’t.”When she told Jacqueline that her brother suggested “physical therapy” I wasn’t surprised – not after she said something about a “summer solsiste” party. Yeah, I thought it was “solstice” too. .

Jacqueline seems like a genuine person. Caroline has too strong of a personality, but she’s consistent. They all need to leave her daughter alone about her weight. She’s a beautiful young woman and they’re ruining her self-esteem.

Kathy seems like a people-pleaser, but her children are amazing. Teresa just seems fake. She is always contradicting herself and she is sending her daughters the wrong message by making them think they can speak to adults however they please.

Basketball Wives Reunion – Part II

Well, well, well. I was right. Jennifer failed her lie-detector test. She is jealous of Evelyn’s and Chad’s relationship.

I knew that Evelyn would say she didn’t miss Jennifer – and that it would not be true. Evelyn has a good heart. It’s nice they’ve made up. Seriously.

Kenya isn’t interesting. Her videos are weird and she needs to be off the show. The wet & wavy weave should have been a deal-breaker. “Kenya knows not to dance in the videos,” John Salley said. That was funny!

I’m glad Kesha finally stood up for herself.  She needed to address Tami.

Looking forward to season five!

Single Ladies without Stacey Dash?

Well, just when I thought I was going to start watching Single Ladies, they take Stacey Dash off the show.

I don’t know what happened, but I refuse to watch LisaRaye McCoy make the same facial expression – no matter what the situation is. McCoy can’t act. She’s never believable. The new girl doesn’t replace Dash’s perky, dramatic personality. The new show previews look like a stylist showcase. The outfits look too much like costumes for every day life.

I obviously don’t know too much about the show – and I don’t care to, now that Dash is off. I hope she moves on to something better suited for her acting abilities. I’ve been a fan of hers since she was in the movie, “Moving,” with Richard Pryor.

Dash has a blog for anyone who wants to keep up with what she’s doing. It’s called Stay Dashing Blog.

First I have some questions: What in the world is Royce wearing on her feet? Why can’t Kenya get a good weave going? Why is Jennifer acting like she’s so much better than everyone else?

I must say I haven’t watched the show until this fourth season – so I’m sort of new to this, although I have watched a few reruns.

Now, about this reunion… The first thing I noticed is that Kesha, although she ran, had a lot of mouth with Kenya, but wouldn’t stand up to Tami. I felt sorry for Kesha when Tami went off on her. That was weak. But Tami should have never questioned Kesha’s ethnicity. She is what she says she is – black is black, mixed or not. Tami doesn’t realize that Kesha can talk about how she feels to whomever she wants. The way she came off – “Are you white?” – who would want to talk to her?

Tami has been working on her anger management since The Real World. I love Tami, but she is a bully, she needs to own it and stop before she scares the wrong person. If you’re going to be her friend, you need to accept her attitude and keep it real with her. She’s obviously very sensitive about that, but that shouldn’t be a problem for any real friend. By the way, Kenya’s wig was enough to make someone want to punish her.

Kenya…were you in Thriller?

Jennifer is obviously jealous of Evelyn and shouldn’t have blogged about her. I agree with Evelyn that it was disrespectful. Also, I notice that every chance Jennifer gets, she mentions her divorce and Eric, as if she is reaching out to him. She clearly said she needs someone to take care of her. She should be off the show.

Now, Nia is funny! Did she have a Samuel L. Jackson moment? “You wish I [bleep]…Jennifer come on…” before she went around the table to slap Jennifer – that was funny. Classic Samual L., Nia. Love it! I just wish she hadn’t given Jennifer the satisfaction.

Jennifer comes out, still putting on her act, trying to sound sophisticated and cussing at the same time. She needs to make her mind up about how she wants to be portrayed. She’s sitting back there talking crap about everyone being out there talking crap. Why isn’t she out there with the rest of the group? Grow up Jennifer! Yeah, filing a complaing against Nia, you’re “handling it in a different manner” than with Eric. OK. Evelyn, Jennifer surely doesn’t have me fooled. She can’t fool all of the people all of the time.

Now, on reunion fashion: Evelyn looked great; her hair and jewelry were amazing. Suzie looks very pretty with light hair. Tami’s dress is very hard on the eyes and not flattering in the hip area – looks like an arts and crafts project; her necklace looks like Baphomet whether she knows it or not. Her hair looks nice though. Jennifer looks a red hot mess, but the jewelry is nice. Shaunie looks nice – for a business meeting in Miami. Kenya looks like she is wearing clothes from Rainbow, and her hair looks like it was done by the little girl down the block who “does sew-ins.” Royce, those shoes are just too big for her body and Kenya picked up that dress for her while she was shopping at Rainbow.

The only advice I would give Shaunie is: get a more authoritative attitude. It’s nice that you’re going to try and send a better message in the future. I wish you all the blessings, and we can all use work, so don’t be so hard on yourself.

Bless the Basketball Wives family!
